Gold Award for CityGardens®

Swiss landscaping and garden design City Gardens® presented a showgarten (30m2) entitled "Sugar & Spice" at the Swiss Lifestyle- & Garten Show GiardinaZURICH, 21. - 25. März 2007 - and won GiardinaAWARD in Gold.

Inspired by travel, holidays and the sensual world of spices, the City Gardens® theme of the showgarten entitled "Sugar & Spice" mirrored the exotic and the adventurous, the world of the explorer and the richness of Nature as an exotic urban retreat. Designed for urban dwellers with a hectic lifestyle, high expectations for quality and design and the strong desire for an exotic retreat, the garden offers its owners the experience of a true "vacation feeling", at home. Despite its size, (30m2)  the garden offers three different areas: a larchwood terrace with pool for lounging/relaxing, a cosy niche for eating/entertaining and a shady retreat under the boughs of a small tree for reading/sitting/musing. Challenged by climatic change but mindful of the need for a sustainable garden that deploys locally available plants and materials, the garden presents a vision that pushes the boundaries of traditional thinking in garden design in Switzerland.

The showgarden, presented in the "Ideasgarden" category, was awarded the Giardina AWARD Gold for its theme, design, construction, planting, use of materials and overall impression. This revered award – described as the «Oscar» of the Swiss garden industry – is regarded as one of the most important national awards in the industry.
