The choices are exhilarating, the possibilities endless. Inspired by the beauty and tradition of the English countryside, based on a unique cultural and industrial heritage, every one of these products carries the hallmark of British ingenuity, skill, craftsmanship and design.

Antique ™ & Contemporary Creations in Fibreglass and Resin

For more than two decades, a British team of skilled designers, craftsmen and engineers have been turning their skill and ingenuity to producing a stunning range of hand-made decorative plant containers and architectural features in fibreglass and resin, for use in the gardens and interiors of private homes, hotels and public buildings.
The material used is tough, maintenance free and light weight, making these products completely frost proof and non-corrosive. But do not be fooled into thinking this means they are less than the real thing! The forms and finishes are as astonishing as they superb, including Weathered Terracotta, Faux-lead and Bronzage and Aluminium, They are so exquisite, authentic and long-lasting that examples of plant containers and architectural features from this range have been used in some of England's most prestigious gardens for over twenty years.
From the smallest to the biggest (and this means massive), the planters range from reproduction antiques to trend setting contemporary geometric creations, inspired by the natural beauty of the English countryside and the great tradition of British design.
City Gardens® is proud to include these products in its Collection. This is an enticing selection of designs. New ones are being added all the time. All are made to order. Many designs can be made in real lead. Bespoke solutions are also available upon request.
These planters and architectural features are an essential choice for those with a passion for the unique, a desire for superior quality and a craving for beautiful things that are priceless to look and affordable to own.

The Geo Range

The Geo is a range of unique, contemporary-style range of plant containers in fibreglass and resin, for inside or out. Cubic, tapered, triangular, spherical, the geometric designs suit the clean lines of contemporary architecture and planting. With a smooth or textured (hammered) surface, Aluminium or Old Penny Bronze (see Geo Vases) finishes reflect this modern style perfectly. Available also in other metallic or standard finishes. All pots come without drainage hole as standard but we are happy to drill them for you on request.

The Antique Range

Plant pots and vessels have a long history. Records from ancient civilizations of Egypt, Persia and ancient Rome show containers with plants in courtyards and roof gardens. In Islamic gardens, fragrant and shade-creating plants were set into large vessels. In the Middle ages many different types of plant pots were used. Most of them were made of clay, wood and even leather. These pots and vessels were not only used for transportation of goods but also as a decorative, architectural element. Just as they are today.

Gardens pots and planters have an important role to play in contemporary gardens. They are particularly suitable for balconies, terraces and small gardens, for dividing spaces, creating a backdrop or a focal point. The City Gardens Showgarden <<Der Hofgarten>> presented at Giardina Zurich 06, that mirrored the concept of the classical paradise garden of ancient civilisations, showed ways of using pots and plants in the smallest of garden spaces.

The pots and planters you find in this section present a remarkable collection of vessels and jars of the type that were used many centuries ago for transporting wine, olive oil and molasses.  These reproductions, true in every detail (except without the characteristic and distinctive rural aroma) add an exceptional, antique quality to traditional and modern gardens of any size.
